Ciao

PdR ha comunicato le seguenti (non mi risulta sia prevista breve una riedizione del volume) correzioni del libro in oggetto:

THE ENDEMIC CICHLIDS OF MADAGASCAR

Corrected picture captions of page 122 – Paretroplus kieneri group

Top left picture (changed): The Kamilotra River that is crossed by the Antananarivo- Majunga national road was long neglected, as it was considered of too easy access to hold any interesting species We discovered in this river Paretroplus tsimoly and it was also the home of a fairly large Paretroplus cf. kieneri population. During the dry season the water was usually sufficiently clear to render underwater observation possible.

Top right picture (changed): It is at Ampijoroa, in Lake Ravelobe, that we collected in 1991 our first Paretroplus cf. kieneri

Middle left picture (changed): During breeding time, some individuals of the Betsiboka-Jkopa drainage population become suffused with orange, but most of the time they show a rather drab colouration, somewhat decorated by brown and dull orange marks.

Middle right picture (not changed): We were surprised to catch a few Pe. cf. kieneri specimens in the Mangarahara River near Mandritsara, in North-Central Madagascar. These fishes are more elongate than their Betsiboka drainage counterparts and show less colouration.

Bottom left (not changed): In October 2001, we found in the upper Kamoro River, this population of Pe.cf.kieneri, which have a proportionally shorter and higher body, with a chocolate, brown reddish colouration.

Bottom right (not changed): The same month and year, we found in the Mahajamba River this surprising population of Pe. cf. kieneri with adults reaching a size of up to 25 cm. We called it straight away “giant kieneri” Are these four forms distinct species or only geographic populations of the same, we leave this to be decided by taxonomists and molecular analysts.
